2014 marks the 170th anniversary of the Rochdale Equitable Pioneers Society.  To celebrate this special anniversary the Pioneers 170 blog will guide you through the Pioneers’ first year.

The mysterious nature of the tin and sign painted by William Lee last week is explained more at this meeting. The Pioneers agree to pay him three shillings and twopence to his account “for sign writing”. He appears to have designed and painted the Pioneers’ store sign. They also decide this week to buy some tin letters, which will be used to mark their sacks of stock.
