2014 marks the 170th anniversary of the Rochdale Equitable Pioneers Society. To celebrate this special anniversary the Pioneers 170 blog will guide you through the Pioneers’ first year.
This General Meeting picks up from the adjourned April 7 one. Here, they decide that all checks and books related to members’ trading accounts with the Pioneers’ store must be given to the secretary (or a deputy of his choosing) on or before the first Thursday in the quarter, along with that member’s account for the last quarter. If any member fails to do this, they shall forfeit their share of the store’s profits, and their share will be divided equally by those members who have handed in their account.
It is also decided that Joshua Hague shall receive interest on his shares from April 1 1845, and that B. Jordan has loan of the law book. The Pioneers organise another General Meeting for Monday April 21, so that the society’s laws may be read.
