06a2014 marks the 170th anniversary of the Rochdale Equitable Pioneers Society.  To celebrate this special anniversary the Pioneers 170 blog will guide you through the Pioneers’ first year.

At this week’s meeting, Miles Ashworth is paid 6/- for work undertaken in renting the premises, and James Bamford is paid 1s/9d “for cinders and labor”. The construction of the store is clearly well underway. James Bamford is also charged with buying a stove.

Two new candidates are proposed: James Carson (a tailor) and James Wilson.
