2014 marks the 170th anniversary of the Rochdale Equitable Pioneers Society. To celebrate this special anniversary the Pioneers 170 blog will guide you through the Pioneers’ first year.
This meeting is recorded as a Special Board Meeting. The Pioneers have decided to take Mr. Dunlop’s warehouse. They themselves have to repair the building, but they are renting it at a cheaper price: £10 rather than the £12 offered. They have achieved their goal of paying no more than £10 in rent annually; the terms are to lease the warehouse for three years at a rate of £10 a year.
In other business, James Tweedale is appointed by the President (Miles Ashworth) and the Secretary (James Daly) to act as trustee “in the name of William Mallilieu.” The period for which this acting-trusteeship will take place is not recorded.
